FreeArc is a fast and efficient general-purpose archiver with a lot of features. This compressor works 1.5 up to 3 times faster than best compression programs.

It is a free open-source project with console and GUI versions for both Windows and Linux. FreeArc includes
11 compression algorithms, eg. LZMA, PPMD and many filters that help you to improve compression eg. REP repetition finder at distances up to 1gb, DICT filter, which is very helpful for texts.
There are special compression algorithms used in fast compression modes and smart file sorting, that groups similar files together to improve compression.
Additionally, any external program can be used as compressor or filter as easy as internal ones. Precomp, ECM, CCM(x), PPMonstr, Durilca, LPAQ, UDA and PAQ are already preconfigured in arc.ini. Also this program allows you to fine-tune settings for each compression algorithm, create new compression profiles or modify existing ones.
