Aciqra is a virtual planetarium and sky map program for windows. This is an open source project, under the Unrestricted Forever agreement, a free software license similar in spirit to the GPL.
Aciqra can track almost 120,000 stars, the 8 planets, all 109 Messier objects, the sun and the moon from any location on Earth to an accuracy of 1 degree for the next 50 years. You can remove daylight, in order to see the sky during the day. There are included many built-in tools called "widgets" which include a solar system viewer, an eclipse/transit predictor and a conjunction engine.
This project is the world's largest and most active open source GDI-based planetarium available on the internet. This reflects the tremendous amount of energy and the hundreds of hours of work put towards creating and perfecting it. Register if you like this program and/or wish to help move it into the future.
note:
We tested this application and found that if you try "Minor Bodies" an unhandled exception occurs. Just click "continue". It seems that minor body editor does not work. Everything else is working. We hope that in new version it will be fixed.
A portable version of Aciqra is available also. Download form "Portable Archive (Exp1.2.2.7z)" link, extract the 7z file into a folder of your choice and run "Aciqra.exe".
Enjoy!
