Xmplay is an excellent audio player which supports OGG, MP3, WMA, WAV, CDA etc audio formats and PLS, M3U, ASX, WAX playlists. More formats are also supported with plugins. XMPlay's first release was in 1998 and supported only the XM format, that's why it was named "XMPlay".
This player allows you to take advantage of your hardware, by choosing 32/24-bit & multi-channel output. There is gapless playback of all supported formats, automatic gain control, 9 band equalizer, reverb, plugins. You can stream from FTP and HTTP servers (inc. Shoutcast/Icecast/Icecast2) all supported file types (including MODs and archives) and optionally write a copy to your disk. FTP directories and HTML webpages can be scanned for playable files.
XMPlay displays track information and allows you to decide how you want the track titles to look. You can make a database of your tracks, with directory monitoring, for quick and easy access to the tracks you want to play. Save settings (DSP/etc) to be automatically used each time specific tracks or filetypes are played.
This player can be used also to write 8/16/24/32-bit WAV files, use external encoders (MP3/OGG/etc), optional level normalization, dithering & noise shaping, individual MOD instrument writing. Keyboard shortcuts are supported and fully customizable. There is also unicode file support for Russian, Chinese, etc...
Today there are a lot of plugins for XMPlay that allows you to change skin, add different visualization, play files within RAR, Zip, 7z archives and more.
